Une文a (Unewéna)
A Language. A Culture.
Une文a (Unewéna) is an exhibition that looks at untranslatable words across the French, Chinese, and Ukrainian languages, and finds a way to bring exposure to the beauty of language through typography and illustration. While words may be best understood in their native tongue, the experience a word carries is not limited by culture, and the word, experience, and emotion, is a gift.
Pronunciation: Une-when-ah. It combines French, Chinese, and Ukrainian, where the female article "une" (A) combines with the Chinese character 文 (wén, meaning language, culture), and the feminine affix "-a" found in the feminine Ukrainian nouns. All together: A language.
